Thinking about poker.

I hear a lot of crap on some forums about donkeys, getting sucked out on, variance, playing poker against losers or winners. When will it be my turn? Is a question I have heard.

Just some quick short thoughts I have about the whole thing,

Folding 1 pair good/great kicker is tuff, folding AA on a board that either could be crushing you or buddy is straight up bluffing is something learned from experience.

When you are playing a good thinking player then you can give more credit to his moves/play/line and maybe fold some hands.

When against a loose random donkey you sometimes have to close your eyes and flip a coin.

Drawing odds, starting hand strength, putting opponents on ranges, folding winners and bluffing losers are all part of the learning experience we go through while navigating to become a better player.

Taking the risk and getting into events that can give you a chance to be "my turn" are also the next step once you think you have what it takes.

Online tournaments (MTT's) with 5K+ players are also such high variance that you need to make sure you have all aspects of your game worked on... playing a lot of smaller tournaments with less runners, finishing at final tables, working on HU play, high blinds with antes, shoving ranges, calling ranges, positional advantages, studying, practicing are just a small potion of becoming a great player.

Poker takes a few minutes to learn and a lifetime to master.

Don't think that putting in a few months is going to change your game and make you a winner, if you hit a bad streak it's either variance or your play, figure out which.

Playing part time isn't going to get you the experience of an online grinder, playing out of your bankroll is the quickest way to not having any money.

Baby steps, earn the money, move up slowing, pay your dues, it will all come to those that deserve it and trust in your inner voice. (unless that voice lies alot)

Just my 2 cents worth a penny.

Just a small ramble from me.... hope it makes you think a little.
