Revisiting Goals from January 2009

Well it's about time I revisit the goals I set for myself in January or February, whichever, for this year. I have about 2 1/2 months left to try to accomplish what I had set out for myself just 9 months or so ago. It seems like a lifetime ago in terms of how much better I have gotten playing poker but at the same time I have so much more still to learn.
I set these goals for myself when I was still ignorant to how much improving I really had to do. Remember I thought I was a 7-8 out of 10 on the poker scale, but quickly learned from PVT that I was really at about a 3-4. I might, maybe have moved up the scale to about a 5 out of 10 by now but it will be very interesting to see how I have done with the goals I set for myself back at the beginning of the year.
I have learned a lot about studying, playing, understanding the game. Proper bankroll management, to the point of being a "nit" but at the same time have had to move back down buy in levels on 1 of the sites because I started losing too much money when I moved up and hit a bad run of cards and started playing poorly. A couple of the sites I have ignored and hardly played more than 100 games on, it that much. While 2 of the sites I have played over 2K games on and 4K games respectively, which is a lot for a part time poker player, at least I think so.
Some of the goals I may have forgotten about and it is good to review them and see where I went wrong and possibly where I was a moron for even thinking I could accomplish them.
I am also going to have to get back to my "home site" to have a chance to win another free year of training on PVT... Heck why pay for what you can get for free with a little bit of extra effort!
So to make a long story longer, I am going to post my original goals in the forum on PVT and allow other members to have a chance to laugh at me or offer advice, yet it will force me to focus on completing them by years end and move me one step closer to my 3-5 year plan of having a chance at maybe becoming a professional poker player, if there is ever the chance of such a thing happening for me...
I still am a complete computer moron, ignorant tool, who should be using more programs and software to increase my skill, but at the same time I accept my inability to use such devices and try to focus on the things that I can work on to improve my game. Like reading books, participating in the forums discussing HH's, watching videos on poker, practicing and playing many games at different buy levels along with different variations of games on many different sites. On top of that participating in member tournaments against people with a higher skill level than your average player on line which totally forces me to focus and identify leaks in my game and admit them so I can improve as I play against other players. Having some HH's reviewed in training videos have also showed me where I make mistakes and aid in giving me a chance to work on that as well. I realize I am more aggressive than the average bear which can help at times and crush me at other times. Changing gears is a skill I need to work on more as well.
All in all playing on line with way way less live play has been a great learning tool and given me a chance to play and learn so much more than I could have in a brick and mortar casino.
So here I go, in the next day or so I am going to post my old goals and then respond to where I am on each of them with 2 1/2 months left in the year to accomplish said goals. I am sure some will be out of my reach, some unrealistic, some not complete do to being lazy on my part and some surpassed. But by putting them out there for all of the forum members to see, I force myself to work harder and open myself to criticism both positive and negative.
Cheers all!
